Do all neighborhoods carry their fair share of noxious city-owned facilities? There are "Fair Share" guidelines that were created decades ago to prevent some neighborhoods from bearing a greater burden than others. But is "Fair Share" working? I developed a curriculum together with teaching artist Hatuey-Ramos Fermín for a Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) collaboration with students from College Now at Hostos. Students interviewed the "father" of Fair Share, environmental justice advocates, and neighborhoods groups to find out how Fair Share works, doesn't work, and could work. With help from designer Sam Holleran, we produced this booklet to share what we learned.
